New features
USB thermal printer management (BETA version)
What is the new functionality? The management of a new device by NDD Orbix, thermal printers with USB connection.
Currently, thermal printer management consists of label printing devices from the manufacturer Zebra. For correct operation, it is essential to install on the computer connected to the printer the Zebra ZDesigner driver corresponding to the model of printer that will be managed.
What is the benefit of the new functionality? The main benefits of this functionality are:
automate printer inventory
monitor the use of devices and their inputs
How does the new functionality work? By installing the DCA and Cloud Connector agent and enabling and configuring the service rules, the agent will scan the devices and automatically the USB thermal printers covered by the enabled rules will be monitored and available in the inventory.
In addition, you can perform remote actions with the service (start, restart, stop and update), view and configure the service logs, perform service synchronization and monitoring configurations, stop managing or remanage a printer, view odometer information, manually add or remove a reading and configure the issuing of alerts.
Remember to review the permissions of the users who will have access to the new functionality to grant them.
To find out more about how to start managing thermal printers, go to Managing thermal printers.
Observations? The version currently available on the NDD Orbix portal for managing thermal printers is BETA.
You must update the DCA and Cloud Connector agent to version 1.0.8, as instructed in Update the agent or gateway on portal.
Implement understanding of error codes in logs - Service: NDD - Thermal Monitor USB
What is the new functionality? To implement the understanding of error codes in the logs of the NDD - Thermal Monitor USB service.
What is the benefit of the new functionality? Standardization of the error codes in the logs in order to provide the user with a better understanding to apply the solution.
What is the benefit of the new functionality? The service logs can be checked via the Installations > Modules or Installations > Services menus. If the log contains an error, identify the error code and consult the documentation (Troubleshooting) to find the solution to the problem identified.
Observations? You must update the DCA and Cloud Connector agent to version 1.0.8, as instructed in Update the agent or gateway on portal.
Improvements
New permissions for managing thermal printers
What purpose? Added new permissions for managing thermal printers to allow segregation of user actions.
What was done? New permissions have been implemented for viewing, editing and deactivating the management of thermal printers, as well as manually entering odometers.
What will be affected? In the Administration > Users and Administration > Permission Groups menus, when creating or editing a user or a permission group, it will be possible to define the level of permission that the thermal printers have.
What is the impact on the environment? It is necessary to review the permissions granted to users and permission groups to add or remove permissions for thermal printers.
Observations? Definition of new permissions:
View thermal printers: view thermal printers in the Monitoring > Thermal printers menu grid, open their properties and view the SUMMARY, INFO, ODOMETER and MOVES tabs
Disable management: stop managing thermal printers in the Monitoring > Thermal printers menu
Edit thermal printers: edit the thermal printer register
Insert odometers: add odometer manually when opening a thermal printer in the Monitoring > Thermal printers menu

Add the "Remaining days" column to the supplies running low grid
What purpose? To add a new column to the supplies running low grid.

What will be affected? The grid in the Supplies > Supplies running low menu.
What is the impact on the environment? There isn't one.
Observations? The number of days remaining in a supply is the time interval between the day the column was viewed and the running by low indicated in the rule for the supply in question.
In the column, "0" will be entered for supplies with a running by low close to the end or indeterminate.
