Meters management

NDD Orbix's mission is to help the provider generate print volumes to complement their billing system. For this, the provider needs to know how much was printed on each of the printers that are part of the contract.

Information on the printer and its meters

For a closing process to take place correctly, the provider needs to obtain the final meter of the printer within the period and compare this data with the initial meter of the period to obtain the production, as shown in the flow below:

NDD Orbix performs this management automatically. The collection of information is done through the agent and sent to the cloud, where the provider will have access to all the data captured in a visual and organized way, and will then be able to charge based on them.

In addition, NDD Orbix makes meter data available via an integration API, to provide security and agility to the process.

Each printer model behaves differently and this can be reflected in the meters. The most common meters on the market are:

  • General

  • Print

  • Fax

  • Scan

  • A4/A3

  • Copy

This difference can raise doubts when generating the print volume and, consequently, the billing. For this reason, NDD Orbix works with 5 system meters, which cover services charged by providers and custom calculation rules by manufacturer. They were created based on the expertise acquired during working with NDD Print MPS and the knowledge of the operation of the printing outsourcing providers in our base.

The 5 system meters are:

  • A4 Mono

  • A4 Color

  • A3 Mono

  • A3 Color

  • Scan

If the provider works with differentiated services, it can remove and add new meters.

List of system and custom rules

Given the different behavior scenarios found in each manufacturer, it is suggested that the provider review the standard system rules to understand if they are suitable for the printer models under their supervision.

Calculation rules

Each of these meters has pre-defined calculation rules for each manufacturer.

Example of the meter rules for the A3 Mono system

However, the provider will be able to edit them or create new rules, so that the calculation correctly reflects its billing services.

Member priority

When creating two rules, the priority will be from the most specific to the least specific.

Meter history

NDD Orbix has a view of the history of meters.

Alert

When there is no registered meter rule, the system makes it impossible to view the history and displays an alert that the printer is not in a standard rule for calculating its meters.
