Fixes

Error displaying printer data in the grid

The printers grid in the Monitoring > Printers menu was not displaying the data from its records in the columns. This was due to the presence of special characters in the printers' data, which were not recognized and caused an error, resulting in the data being hidden in the grid.

To correct this problem, we have updated the related components. Now, regardless of the presence of special characters in the printers' data, they will be correctly displayed in the grid.

New features

Installation of print queues by users

We have implemented the installation of TCP/IP print queues by users to simplify the installation process. Now, the print queues will be installed on all the computers that the user accesses, eliminating the need to anticipate which devices will need these queues.

To link users to the print queues, install the DCA and Cloud Connector agent on all the computers where the print queues will or could be used, and register the users in the Print queues > Users menu. If a user logs on to a computer without the agent installed, the print queue will not be configured on that device.

Then use the users option to install the TCP/IP print queues.

Remember to review the permissions of the users and permission groups that will have access to the new functionality in order to grant them.

For more information on the new functionality, go to Create print queue user.

The DCA and Cloud Connector agent must be updated to version 1.0.15, as instructed at Update the agent or gateway on portal.

Notebook battery information and useful life

The new feature makes it possible to view detailed information about the notebook's battery, including model, capacity, manufacturer and serial number, as well as the percentage of battery life in graphical format.

With this functionality, the user can monitor battery degradation and know when it needs to be replaced to maintain optimal device performance.

To access the new functionality, open the notebook's properties in the Monitoring > Computers menu. In the Summary tab, the data will be available under:

  • Battery health, with the graph indicating the percentage of battery life and degradation.

  • Hardware, with information on the battery's model, capacity, manufacturer and serial number.

For more details on the new functionality, visit View computer inventory.

The DCA and Cloud Connector agent must be updated to version 1.0.15, as instructed at Update the agent or gateway on portal.

New types of alerts for computers

New types of alerts have been created to take preventative measures and maintain optimal computer performance. The new alerts are:

  • Battery degradation

  • Battery temperature

  • Committed disk space

  • Disk temperature

  • Graphics card temperature

  • Loss of monitoring

  • Memory temperature

  • Motherboard temperature

  • Processor overused

  • Processor replacement

  • Processor temperature

  • RAM memory addition

  • RAM memory overused

  • RAM memory removal

  • RAM memory replacement

  • SMART failures

  • Storage disk addition

  • Storage disk removal

  • Storage disk replacement

How to generate the new alerts:

  1. Create a new alert rule and select one of the new alert types in the rule settings

  2. When the condition that triggers the alert occurs, it will be generated in the system

For more information on the meaning of each alert, go to Issue alerts.

The DCA and Cloud Connector agent must be updated to version 1.0.15, as instructed at Update the agent or gateway on portal.

Improvements

Automating the update of the computer user

In order to simplify the identification of the device's active user, the User field in the computer record has been automatically updated. Now, this field will automatically reflect the last user who accessed or is accessing the device, updating the information with each scan carried out by the agent.

The DCA and Cloud Connector agent must be updated to version 1.0.15, as instructed at Update the agent or gateway on portal.

New indicator for battery usage on the computer dashboard

We have added a new indicator to the computer dashboard that represents battery usage: Computers - Battery health.

This indicator will be integrated into the default computer dashboard and can also be added to customized dashboards.

The new indicator displays a graph showing the battery life of all the provider's computers. The classification is as follows:

  • Normal: all computers whose battery life is above 70%

  • Degraded: all computers whose battery life is at or below 70%

The battery usage indication is only available for notebooks.

New columns added to the computer grid

In order to make it easier to identify computer resources, four new columns have been added to the grid in the Monitoring > Computers menu:

  • Processor usage: this column will display the average percentage usage of the processor(s). When usage reaches or exceeds 90%, the information will be highlighted in red.

  • RAM memory usage: this column will display the average percentage usage of the RAM memory(s). When usage reaches or exceeds 90%, the information will be highlighted in red.

  • Disk usage: this column will display the average percentage usage of the disk(s). When usage reaches or exceeds 90%, the information will be highlighted in red.

  • Battery health: this column will display the percentage of battery life. When the useful life is at or below 70%, the information will be highlighted in red.

The battery health indication is only available for notebooks.

Improvements to network/USB printer service settings

Implemented several visual improvements to the network and USB printer service settings in the Installations > Services menu. The main improvements include:

  • The settings descriptions have been improved to provide greater clarity and understanding.

  • The layout of the settings has been organized for easier viewing and access.

  • The size of the fill-in fields has been adjusted for better adaptation and efficiency of use.

  • The buttons have been standardized, providing a more intuitive interface.

Fixes

Uncaptured information was ignored by the local database (Service: NDD - Printer Monitor)

When monitoring equipment, searching for information in the local database resulted in an error due to the presence of non-existent (null) data.

The problem was identified when searching for printers saved in the database by their serial number or MAC address.

To correct this problem, the local database was configured to save information correctly, even when it is empty, avoiding ignoring null values.

The DCA and Cloud Connector agent must be updated to version 1.0.14, as instructed at Update the agent or gateway on portal.

Improvements

Added permission to access Business Intelligence

The Business Intelligence (Beta) permission has been implemented to allow the indicators in the Business Intelligence menu to be viewed.

Now, when creating or editing a user or permission group in the Administration > Users and Administration > Permission Groups menus, it will be possible to define whether they will have access to the indicators in the Business Intelligence menu. We recommend reviewing and adjusting the permissions granted to existing users and permission groups to include or exclude this new permission.

Viewing is conditional on licensing the functionality; without this license, even with the permission activated, it will not be possible to access the menu.

Segregation by units is not applied in this functionality. Therefore, users will view the indicators based on the data of all the portal's customers.
