Block or unblock monitoring of network printers by serial number or network address

Monitoring blocking allows you to prevent the service from monitoring certain network printers based on their serial number or network address.

  • Block by serial number: monitoring of the printer associated with the serial number will be blocked, regardless of the network address to which it is linked.

  • Block by network address: monitoring will be blocked for any printer that has or will have this network address, regardless of its serial number.

Blocking can be performed in two ways:

  • By service, to block multiple serial numbers or network addresses at the same time;

  • By printer, to block multiple services that monitor a serial number or network address.

Who can use this feature

Users with the Admin or Installation management permissions

Instructions

Block serial number by service

  1. Access the Installations > Services menu

  2. Click on the desired service to open its properties

  3. Click on the Supervised printers tab

  4. Select the desired printers

  5. Click on the Block series button located in the upper right corner

  6. Click on the Confirm button to block the printer

When a serial number is blocked:

  • The printer will be removed from the list of monitored printers in the Supervised printers tab of the service.

  • The printer will be moved to the Block list > Blocked series tab of the service, with information about the last network address that the device used for communication.

If the printer's network address changes:

  • If the printer is linked to another network address, the last network address will be updated in the Block list > Blocked series grid, but monitoring will remain blocked.

  • If the network address that was linked to that printer is transferred to another device, the new printer will be added to the Supervised printers tab of the service, becoming monitored.

Block network address by service

  3. Click on the Supervised network addresses tab

When a network address is blocked:

  • The network address will be removed from the Supervised printers and Supervised network addresses tabs of the service.

  • The network address will be moved to the Block list > Blocked network addresses tab of the service, with information about the last printer that communicated through that address.

In case of printer change:

  • If the address is linked to another printer, the last printer will be updated in the Block list > Blocked network addresses grid, but monitoring will remain blocked.

  • If the printer that was linked to that network address is transferred to another address, the printer and network address will return to the Supervised printers and Supervised network addresses tabs of the service and will be monitored.
