Why is a thermal printer supply status inactive?
Printers that use Ribbon offer two printing modes:
Thermal transfer printing mode (with Ribbon)
Supplies used:
Transfer Thermal Paper
Ribbon
Direct thermal printing mode (without Ribbon)
Supply used:
Thermal Paper
When the printer's print mode is changed, the active supplies also change according to the new mode selected.
Supplies not used in the new mode for that printer will be displayed as inactive on the portal. An inactive supply has its indicators frozen and does not generate new replenishment or exchange demands.
If the print mode is changed again, the previously inactive supplies will be reactivated automatically, and those that were active will become inactive.
Example:
Current mode: thermal transfer.
โ Active supplies: Thermal Transfer Paper and Ribbon.
Mode changed to: direct thermal.
โ Active supply: Thermal Paper.
โ Inactive supplies: Transfer Thermal Paper and Ribbon.
Mode changed back to: thermal transfer.
โ Active supplies: Transfer Thermal Paper and Ribbon.
โ Inactive supply: Thermal Paper.
If no inactive supplies are listed for a printer, this indicates that all printers of the same model use the same print mode, and no mode switching has occurred.
