Agent installation prerequisites

Before installing the DCA and Cloud Connector agent, check the prerequisites:

Hardware

Minimum configurations

  • Processor: Dual-Core 1.7GHz

  • Memory: 4gb or higher

  • Disk space: 10gb or higher

Recommended configurations

  • Processor: Octa-Core 2.6GHz

  • Memory: 16gb or higher

  • Disk space: 60gb or higher

It is important to note that:

  1. Memory and processing consumption may vary depending on the number of printers monitored and print volume generated.

  2. Network performance affects the resource consumption of DCA and Cloud Connector services.

  3. For environments monitored by SNMP V3, contact NDD to assess the required hardware requirements.

  4. We recommend using server processors as they have substantial differences compared to a desktop processor.

Software

Minimum configurations

  • Microsoft .NET Framework: version 4.7.0 or higher

  • Microsoft .NET Runtime: version 8.0.6 or higher

  • Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime: version 8.0.6 or higher

Before installing the agent, the installer will check whether the Microsoft .NET Runtime and Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime applications are already present on the computer. If not, the installer will automatically install these applications.

Environment

Minimum configurations

  • SNMP communication enabled for communication with printing devices: Ports 161 and 162 - UDP.

  • NPAP communication enabled for communication with printing devices: Ports 9300, 9301, 9302, 9500 and 9501.

  • Internet communication enabled for communication with the NDD Orbix:

    • Proxy: Port 443 - TCP/IP

    • Gateway: Ports 443 and 9635 - TCP/IP

For more details on how the communication flow takes place, go to DCA and Cloud Connector agent.

Web service

  • Web service used by DCA and Cloud Connector to receive/send data:
    Data Center global (portal.nddorbix.com).
Sends application monitoring data (server, services, and logs) to NDD Orbix.

HP USB printers

  • Check the Enable PJL Device Access Commands option in the Security > General Security of device web section to ensure proper monitoring of HP USB printers.

EcoPrint

  • PCL6 language driver.

In the driver properties, the Enable advanced printing features option must be disabled. Otherwise, this option may change the driver language during printing, preventing the savings from being applied.

The NDD - Supply Watch service will monitor this setting on the printers covered by the standard and custom rules and automatically disable it, even if it is re-enabled after the agent has been installed.

Approved operating systems

Windows

  • Windows 10, 64 bits (x64)

  • Windows 11 Enterprise, 64 bits (x64)

Windows Server

  • Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition, 64 bits (x64)

  • Windows Server 2019 Standard Edition, 64 bits (x64)

  • Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition, 64 bits (x64)
